EB 3D Coating Curing
High-Performance Curing for Complex 3D Parts
For packaging components, automotive interior parts, shaped wood products, battery housings, and other 3D parts, EBC can develop customized EB coating curing systems based on part dimensions, surface geometry, and production requirements.
Low-energy electron beams are typically used for surface processing of roll-to-roll and flat materials. For selected 3D parts, EB curing can also be applied to complex surfaces by combining electron scattering with customized shielding and controlled part handling.
Typical applications include cosmetic packaging, lipstick tubes, eyebrow pencil components, powder cases, automotive interior parts, shaped wood panels, battery housings, metal enclosures, and other industrial coated parts.
Compared with thermal curing, EB curing enables rapid curing with relatively low heat input, helping reduce curing time, heat load, and energy consumption. This makes it suitable for plastics, wood products, and other heat-sensitive substrates.
Unlike UV curing, EB curing does not rely on light exposure or photoinitiators. This can provide greater flexibility for dark or opaque coatings, thicker coating layers, and complex areas such as corners, recesses, and edges where direct UV exposure may be difficult. Actual performance depends on part geometry, coating system, and system configuration and should be verified through sample testing.
